How Colon Irrigation Treatments Are Done

Treatments are usually performed in a special clinic. At the time of treatment, the therapist will insert a small tube into your rectum. This tube is called a speculum; it?s about 51/2 inches long. The speculum is attached to a plastic hose connected to a colon irrigation machine. Then the Colon irrigation machine will put purified, warm water into the five-foot length of your colon.

The colon starts to have the muscles contract from the water. This forces the fecal matter out through an evacuation tube that leads back to the colon irrigation machine.

A total of 20 to 30 gallons of water will be flushed through your colon. It is possible to feel a warm sensation as the toxins and fecal matter leaves your body. However you should not feel any pain.
